Once you're out of school making friends as an adult is... different.
Where do you meet like-minded people? How do you manage clashing schedules and busy lives?
Well, hobbies are usually a great option. You're making time in your busy schedule to head to the same place each week to participate in whatever your hobby is.
That's kind of like school, huh? 🤔
If you're looking for a new hobby to meet new friends, then let me introduce you to pole dancing classes.
Let me explain why, in my humble opinion, pole is the best way to make new friends as an adult:
Pole dancing studios across the globe welcome all sorts of humans through their doors. It's one of the things we love about the pole industry. We all celebrate the uniqueness of each person and accept them for who they are - not for what society expects of them.
Friendships formed through pole classes are often so effortless you might feel like you've known them for... well, forever.
You just click - and then your friendship group explodes! Friends left, right and centre.
Pole dancing is still a fairly new and niche form of exercise, it's definitely gaining popularity worldwide, but there are still people who, yeah, will turn their nose up at it. 🤷♀️
But what about those who do consider giving pole a go? Those who are open to it? The types of people who don't care about what the rest of the world has to say. They look at something without the tinted glasses and decide for themselves.
Then put a group of those people in a room together for 1 hour, a couple of times a week. That has to be a recipe for a supportive, inclusive and awesome community, right?
And then add another ingredient, a beginner event that welcomes a group of newbies to start together. All nervous but taking that very first step into the pole world, together. That's an even more delicious recipe for friendships.
Alright enough of the cooking metaphors, it's getting a little out of control.
You get the picture. 😅
Basically - friendships formed during something like Ignite can be quite special and very close. Not only do you get to see each other regularly during classes and at social events, you're also experiencing pole dancing and Altitude together for the very first time.
So if you have been wondering how, as an adult, you make new friends?
