Why photoshoots will always have a place in Ignite

Photoshoots can be intimidating. I get it. I've experienced those nerves myself many times.

You're often stepping into the unknown and, yeah, it can feel a bit awkward if you're not used to strutting your stuff in front of a camera lens. It can take stepping outside your comfort zone to get past those nerves and give it a go and that's always a bit scary.

Trust me, though... taking that step is very much worth it.

Across the years of running beginner events at Altitude, we have always included some sort of photoshoot. It's a non-negotiable. If Ignite is running, it's gonna have a photo experience.

The structure of our shoots have varied across the years, of course, but we want our Igniters to walk away with some really cool photos that'll give them a sense of accomplishment.

Also, if I can be a little blunt here. Pole dancing photos are cool AF and if it's YOU in the photos - how good is that gonna feel?

So, why am I raving so much about these photoshoots? Let's go over it:

Photoshoots grow confidence

While coming to our classes will definitely boost your confidence, getting in front of a camera and striking poses will help you feel more self-assured and confident in your abilities. You'll feel proud of that amazing body that's given you the strength to pull off all those cool tricks. That all leads to a big boost in confidence.

It's a memento

Years from now when you look back at your photos, regardless of whether you continue on your pole journey at the end of Ignite or not - it'll transport you back to that fun event you participated in during 2024. The photos will mark your very first experience with pole dancing.

You'll strengthen friendships

Our Pole 'n Pics event has a social twist, so you'll get a chance to be silly and have a laugh with your fellow Igniters. That strengthens blossoming friendships. How do we know? Because we've been told by previous participants! Sharing an experience with others who are also stepping outside of their comfort zone creates this really cool supportive environment where friendships really grow and thrive.

Showcase your progress

The Pole 'n Pics event is hosted towards the end of Ignite, so you can get some snaps of moves you've been learning during the weeks before. It's a great way to celebrate the mahi you've put in to learn all the cool tricks.

You'll feel proud of yourself

That sense of accomplishment feels pretty damn good. Not only immediately after the shoot but when you get your photos bac, too. It just feels amazing. Stepping outside of your comfort zone to get involved and getting some sweet snaps to take away? Hell yes! You may feel nervous about how they will turn out, but reminder - pole dancing photos are awesome and you will look and feel badass 💪

It might end up being a highlight for you

So - I've acknowledged that participants can feel a bit apprehensive about getting involved. Some may even consider skipping it altogether. I'm here to urge you to go into this with an open mind, even if it gives you the heebie-jeebies. Trust the process, take that step and come to Pole 'n Pics. You may find that it becomes one of your fave parts of the whole event and you'll get those cool photos out of it. It's a win, win!

Before I wrap up this blog, here are some quotes from previous beginner event participants about Pole 'n Pics.

"When we did the photoshoot, 'cause that was really out of my comfort zone. I was so surprised how cool the photos were. It was a real confidence boost"
"One of the most memorable moments when a few of us during the photoshoot put on heels and absolutely went to town. The friendship vibes that happened from that, those friendships are still quite strong."
"Even though I was sooo shaky and nervous during the photoshoot it was probably one of the best experiences because it gave me lifetime memories of my first ever taste of pole!"

So. If you're signing up to Ignite this year, I really hope you take part in Pole 'n Pics. We've done our best to make it the most comfortable, fun and not-so-serious photo event we can - to help calm those nerves and to ensure you come out of it feeling like a million bucks.

So... ready for that new profile pic? See you there 😉
